Titans Release Defensive Tackle Sylvester Williams

The Titans have released defensive tackle Sylvester Williams according to Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.

Originally a first-round pick out of North Carolina by the Denver Broncos in 2013, Williams signed a three-year, $16.5 million free agent contract with the Titans last March after four seasons in Denver.

Williams did not prove worthy of that money as the Titans continued to have problems stopping the run and he was due $2.5 million roster bonus. Releasing Williams saves the team just over $3 million in cap space. The 29-year-old will likely resurface as a nose tackle in a 3-4 defensive scheme.
