Titans to Ink Patriots Free Agent CB Malcolm Butler with Massive Five-Year Deal

Malcolm Butler may have been a surprise scratch on Super Bowl Sunday, not playing a down, but he’s ready to become a very rich man on the free agent market, inking with the Titans.

Tennessee is set to pay Butler a reported $61 million dollars for five seasons, with more than $30 million guaranteed, per NFL Network and first reported by ESPN.

The deal makes Butler one of the top 10 highest-paid corners in the league and $30 million guaranteed would put him just behind former teammate Stephen Gilmore for the third-highest guaranteed total at the position.

Butler, 28, was mysteriously benched by Bill Belichick in Super Bowl LII and many second-guessed the decision following the Patriots’ 41-33 loss to the Eagles.

While rumors of disciplinary reasons circulated, nothing was ever confirmed and would have likely been a red flag for teams, but it clearly is not stopping the Titans from shelling out big money for Butler.
