The Titans put second-year wide receiver Justin Hunter on injured reserve Tuesday due to a lacerated spleen according to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean.
It is a disappointing end for what has to be considered a disappointing season for a talented wideout many were expecting great things from in 2014.
Instead, Hunter was one of the league’s least-efficient receivers this season, averaging just 1.32 yards per route run. Hunter caught more than three passes in only 2-of-12 games, and astonishingly failed to log a single five-catch effort.
Hunter has all the ability in the world, but has thus far been able to match it with the proper football smarts. Issues at play-caller and quarterback have not helped. Still only 23, Hunter still has a chance to make a splash in the NFL but to date he has not inspired confidence in any predictions that 2015 will be his breakout year.
