Titans Add LB James Anderson, Place LB Zach Brown on IR

The Titans agreed to terms on a contract with veteran LB James Anderson and placed LB Zach Brown on injured reserve.

Anderson (6-2, 235) is a veteran of eight NFL seasons, who has 110 games of experience, including 69 starts. For his career, he has totaled 556 tackles, 12 sacks, three interceptions, five forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries.

Anderson was a third-round selection by the Carolina Panthers in the 2006 NFL Draft. He played seven seasons for the Panthers with the final three as a full-time starter. He led the team in tackles in both 2010 and 2011, and his total of 145 stops in 2011, set a franchise record for tackles in a season. In his final season in Carolina (2012), Anderson also set a single-game team record for tackles with 20 in a contest against the Giants.

Last season he led the Chicago Bears in tackles with 104 and registered a career-best four sacks. He was signed by the New England Patriots this past June and was with the team through training camp. Anderson played his college football at Virginia Tech, where he was a two-year starter.
