Lots and lots of losses in the AFC.
The Tennessee Titans first, make take care of business at home. Tennessee hosts the 4-10 Jacksonville Jaguars at LP field on Christmas eve.
The loss last week to the previous win-less Indianapolis Colts put the Titans in a win or go home situation.
“We’re disappointed about some of the things that have happened this year being 7-7,” Hasselbeck said. “That’s all behind us. As crazy as it sounds, we can be really proud if we’re able to go 9-7 because of what we accomplish the next two weeks. I think that’s the mindset right now for everybody. Get better, win this game … then hopefully getting the chance.”
So, what will give them that chance? Winning a mini lottery..
There are currently four teams fighting for one spot.
Cincinnati: Remaining Teams : Arizona and Baltimore, 8-6
Best case scenario for the Bengals? Probably a 1-1 record. The ravens will be playing for the AFC North week 17 and possibly a first round bye. Don’t count on Cincinnati pulling that one out.
Best Finish: 9-7
However, with the tiebreaker over the Titans, one win will be enough if they defeat the Cardinals this week.
Oakland: Remaining Teams : Kansas City and San Diego, 7-7
The AFC West will be defeating one another in the final two weeks and will eliminate each other by the end of the season. I don’t see Oakland winning two straight to make a serious playoff run.
Best Finish: 8-8
San Diego: Remaining Teams: Detroit and Oakland, 8-8
San Diego faces their toughest test on the road at Detroit this weekend. If they are able to go on the road and defeat the Lions, it will leave the door wide open for San Diego to pull the epic collapse that we’ve come so accustomed to seeing from the Chargers. Again, I don’t see the Chargers winning both of these games, even if they are able to go on the road and beat Detroit.
