Griffin Acknowledges Today Could Be Last Game At LP Field

Titans safety Michael Griffin tweeted this morning that today could be his final game at LP Field.

“My Last Game at LP. Got to make it a good one. Let’s got Titans!!!!”, Griffin wrote.

The 19th overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft, Griffin has not missed a game for the Titans, starting 71 of a possible 78 games and totaling 376 tackles, two quarterback sacks and 16 interceptions with 43 passes defensed and seven forced fumbles. The Titans wrap-up their home schedule today against the Jacksonville Jaguars before closing out the regular season in Houston.

Griffin went to the Pro Bowl after the 2008 and 2010 seasons and is in the final year of a five-year rookie contract that was worth a maximum of $13.35 million and included $8.15 million in guaranteed money. The Titans could use the franchise tag on Griffin, which is projected to be worth $6.22 million in guaranteed base salary, which is less than the tender amount from 2009.
