Titans Still Won’t Retain QB Vince Young After Collins’ Retirement

Vince Young’s status with the Titans doesn’t change in the wake of Kerry Collins’ decision to retire from the NFL on Thursday. Young still will be released soon after the end of the NFL lockout, while the Titans will look for a Collins-like seasoned veteran to support rookie first-round pick Jake Locker.

For Young to get a shot with his second NFL team, he will need to prove to coaches he’s willing to be a backup. It’s unlikely, even with Young’s athletic skill set, that even the league’s quarterback-neediest club will perceive Young as a potential starter for ’11.
