The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that there’s another QB on the Titans radar – that being Seattle free agent QB to be Matt Hasselbeck.
The Tennessee Titans are trying to do their best to keep rookie Jake Locker from taking his lumps as their starting quarterback in 2011, and the search is on for a short-term No. 1 while they develop him. To that end, the Tennessean reports the Redskins’ Donovan McNabb and the Eagles’ Kevin Kolb aren’t on the team’s radar, but Seahawks free agent Matt Hasselbeck is. With the team ready to release Vince Young shortly after the NFL lockout is lifted and Kerry Collins also a free agent, it leaves second-year player Rusty Smith set to be the only quarterback on the roster. Although Collins has served the Titans well in stretches where Young has struggled, if they are going to turn over their offense to a season passer in 2011, Hasselbeck makes more sense. At 35, Hasselbeck is three years younger than Collins, and despite coming off a shaky regular season, showed he still had something left in Seattle’s wild-card playoff victory over New Orleans.
