The Titans reached out to veteran defensive end Jason Babin during the brief respite in the lockout, according to the Tennessean. An unrestricted free agent who recorded 12 1/2 sacks last season to lead the team, Babin is still unsure of his status going forward.
“Interest was definitely expressed, and I think they want to explore it further,” Babin said. “But it is hard to say because no one knows what to do. Can we talk to them? Can we not talk to them? So right now everyone is on hold. “I expressed early to them my intentions and we’ll see what happens when they can legally speak to me. If they want a guy who can get some sacks and they’ll let me do what I did last year, I’d love to be back. If not, then I won’t. It is kind of a no-brainer for both sides, really. But you never know.”
Babin prefers to play for the Titans. He has previous stints with the Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. “I have been signed closer to the season in the past, so this is really not a new feeling for me,” Babin said.
“My biggest thing is I would like to move forward for my family’s sake, so I’ll know what schools my sons would be in, and it would help my wife looking for a house. Those are the things I am most concerned about. But right now everyone is sitting and waiting.”
