While Chris Johnson may be happy for the time being, he is still looking to have a “history deal” for next season, according to the Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt. If Johnson is going to attempt to use this year as a contract season, he’s talking a big game. Johnson said earlier in the week that he expects to rush for over 2,000 yards again, and not only 2,000 yards, over 2,500.
“Basically I have to come in here and have a great year and get my history deal next year. I felt like I deserved it this year, but . . . I can say it won’t happen again. This is the last time without me having a long-term deal. It’s a must.”
If the Titans want Johnson happy throughout the year, a contract early in the year will provide for a much more stable locker room. However, with Johnson signing his recent short term contract, it may take until late in the season in order to work a “history deal” out.

The only way he’d rush for 2,500 yards with a sorry team like the Oilers/Titans would be if they NFL extended the season to 35 games.
