Keith Bulluck is now a member of the New York Giants, as he inked with them on Saturday. The Tennessean reports that the Titans never did much of anything to try and get Bulluck back, as they never contacted him or his agent this offseason:
Longtime Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck is moving on to the New York Giants. Bulluck reached a deal Saturday with the Giants, ending his 10-year run with the team that drafted him in the first round in 2000. The Titans never expressed an interest in re-signing the linebacker, Bulluck’s agent said.
“I called them and left them a message,” agent Gary Wichard said. “I never heard back from them. Keith knew the minute he walked out of the Titans complex his run in Tennessee was over. He knew it in his mind. But he is excited about what’s next.” Bulluck said this offseason he thought his playing days with the Titans were over.
“I have seen a lot over the years. I have seen guys who have been figureheads here being released,” he said. “With me, I prepared myself over the years for this, because I knew at some point my time would come. My time is here now, so I would be a fool to put all my emotions into that and be excited about staying here and then be let down.” Wichard said he hopes Bulluck can get a new long-term deal somewhere after proving himself in 2010.
“He told me, ‘I’m straight New York. Let’s do the deal,’ ” Wichard said. “I think he would have at least liked to have heard from somebody in Tennessee to say, ‘Hey, we’d like to talk to you about coming back.’ After all the things he did and the success he had … But Keith is excited.”
