Pro Football Talk reports the Titans may be looking to dump some wideouts:
The Titans have struggled to draft wideouts since arriving in Nashville, a bad streak of luck that appeared to end with Kenny Britt’s selection last year.
Tennessee took two more wide receivers in the draft this year, which has the Tennessean wondering where slow-developing two mid-round draft picks of years past fit in.
Both Paul Williams (third round, 2007) and Lavelle Hawkins (fourth round, 2008) are facing their NFL mortality this summer.
“This is definitely a big season for me and Lavelle,” Williams told the Tennessean. “We’ve been here. Nothing is really new for us. So there are no excuses for us not to go out and do big things.”
To do big things, Williams and Hawkins will have to pass proven receivers ahead of them like Britt, Nate Washington, and Justin Gage. There isn’t a lot of reason to believe that will happen.
