Vince Young Wants to Play

Titan’s backup quarterback stated on Wednesday after practice that:

“I am always wanting to play; I can’t do nothing about that, I am just taking care of my responsibilities. I have no call on that. I am scout team quarterback and making sure our defense is getting good looks and getting ready to play. My job is to stay in the game mentally and pay attention.”

He obviously wants to get some playing time and maybe even start, but he does not want to cost his team a loss in the process or become part of this conflict.  Many fans have been saying that they want him to get some playing time, but he is being smart in trying to not become a part of the VY/Kerry Collins debate.

Fisher is firm on his belief that Kerry Collins is not the reason that the Tennessee Titans are currently winless.  It seems that Collins will probably start the rest of the season unless an injury occurs or Vince somehow miraculously changes Fisher’s mind.  I personally hope that VY gets at least one start in this season to prove his abilities.

Fisher jus don’t want a Black being the pilot of the team. Here it is Kerry hasn’t won 1 game & Fisher won’t even complain about it. But I bet u can’t even remember why VY got benched. All I’m sayin it seems like if r a Black QB in the NFL u have 2 work 2 as hard 2 keep that job.

i think fisher is anything but racist VY had a pour pre season and hasnt proven anything. I think he should get playing time sometime if we keep losing, but you can’t blame kerry collins on the record. we’ve scored points and 3 games we lost by one score. if anything are defense isn’t showing up how it normally does. oh and good grammar

  3. Fisher doesn’t want to be wrong, but he is about this. Vince is doin’ the right thing. Stay out of it. Why choose to be the Captain of the Titanic? Titans suck, not your fault. Black Quarterbacks always deal with this drama. Warren Moon, James Harris, Doug Williams, Marlin Briscoe, Willie Thrower, Steve McNair, Donovan McNabb. Start ‘em when the team is losing, but when we draft or acquire some offensive weapons, put the white boy in. The only reason the Titans is my team is because of McNair and Vince. It’s OK, bask in this VY. God sits high and looks low and he doesn’t like ugly. I hope they lose this week too until they do right and put VY in.

Not being a Titans fan ia am looking at the team from a true evaluative angle.
On the offensive side,i don’t see the right plays being called or execution of the ones that are. Collins is a decent quarterback if protection is in place. I thought the offensive line did a respectable job against the colts considering they had to condend with Freeney,Mathis and Brackett pressuring on most every play. With that being said,Kerry’s weakness is lack of mobility outside of the pocket and not throwing well on the run and that’s what Young brings to the game. Vince is the X factor and should have been used regularily in the contest.
On the defensive side, well, the Db’s were injured leaving a couple green horns to look after the best pass and receiving team in the NFL…no easy job. The defensive line put good pressure on Manning especially on Ugo’s side of the line. A couple major penalties really cost the Titans field position giving Manning and his targets free reign in the secondary. The Colts rushed for less than 100 yards so that is a decent job by the Titans run defensee.
In the end, the Titans are their own worst enemy at this point. They need to work on play calling and execution, work both QB’s to their strengths and get some help in their secondary. The Titans are a good team with a great coach. It’s time for them to step back, have a good hard look at themseves in the mirror and put the pieces back together,otherwise…..start the rebuild process.
