The Titans have another weapon in their backfield, as today the team agreed to terms on a multi-year contract with RB Javon Ringer, a fifth-round pick from Michigan State.
Ringer rushed for 1,637 yards on 390 carries in his senior season with the Spartans. His 4,398 yards rank second in school history and 10th in Big Ten history.
Pro Football Weekly’s 2009 Draft Preview noted that Ringer “(r)uns hard and fits through creases” but observed that he “(t)ook a pounding as a senior … and wore down late in the season.”
Ringer, who will compete to be the Titans’ third-string tailback behind Chris Johnson and LenDale White, is the ninth of 11 Titans’ draft picks to agree to terms with the club.
