The Tennessee Titans are still without a defensive coordinator, but that appears to be on the verge of changing. Reports from The Tennessean state that the team is going to name secondary coach Chuck Cecil as the new defensive coordinator next week.
The Titans are expected to name secondary coach Chuck Cecil as their defensive coordinator next week. Jim Schwartz, the team’s defensive coordinator the previous eight seasons, was hired as head coach of the Lions last month. Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan offered high praise for Cecil, who just finished his eighth season with the team. “I think he’ll do great,” Finnegan said. “He knows the defense and knows the game of football — has played the game of football. He is a great fit. The way he played the game is the way we try and play the game as a secondary. I don’t think we’ll miss a beat.”
Cecil played in the league from 1988 to 1995 with the Packers, Cardinals and Oilers, and was known as one of the biggest hitters in the league. It will be interesting to see if he can translate that to the Titans defense.
