Packers WR Greg Jennings vs. Titans CB Nick Harper
Jennings leads the Packers with 37 catches for 685 yards and four touchdowns. He has taken over as the big-play threat for Green Bay. He’s averaging 18.5 yards per catch. Harper and the Titans secondary are coming off a solid game against the Indianapolis Colts, but they will certainly be tested again. Harper was familiar with the Colts’ receivers because of his six-year stay in Indy, but he won’t have the same luxury with Jennings.
Packers RB Ryan Grant vs. Titans run defense
Tennessee has a big, physical defensive line led by defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. It should be able to physically wear out the Packers’ offensive line in the course of 60 minutes. It’s tough to see Grant having a productive day. He averaged only 3.4 yards per carry against Indianapolis and 2.7 yards per rush against the Seattle Seahawks in the past two games. The Packers don’t figure to be able to pound the ball 30 times like they did against the Colts and Seahawks, so Grant’s fantasy outlook isn’t promising.
Titans TE Bo Scaife vs. Packers LB Brandon Chillar
Tennessee’s best receiving weapons are at tight end, and Scaife is quarterback Kerry Collins’ favorite target. However, Chillar played almost the entire game against Indianapolis in the Packers’ nickel package and had an excellent game against Colts tight end Dallas Clark, who had eight receptions but for only a 10.1-yard average. The Packers are becoming better equipped to defend the position with Chillar, so Scaife might be hard pressed to have a big day.
Packers C Scott Wells vs. Titans DT Albert Haynesworth
The University of Tennessee products will go head to head in a battle of the trenches. How things go will play a big role in determining how the Packers are able to run the ball. Grant (137 carries for 464 yards) hasn’t had the success he had last year, and if Haynesworth can disrupt things in the middle, it’ll make things tough on him again. Green Bay’s line hasn’t played as well as expected, so it’ll be interesting to see if Wells and crew are prepared for battle coming off the bye.
