As previously reported by NFL Gridiron Gab’s Matt Loede, the Tennessee Titans pulled out a narrow 17-16 win over the Oakland Raiders on Saturday; there were some items of note that were a result of the game itself – including the rash of injuries that took place prior to and during the contest, according to Christopher Smith of the Tennessee Titans website. The Titans collected some injuries during the game, including a minor injury to linebacker Keith Bulluck which turned out to be a case of cramping in his calf. In addition, linebacker David Thornton sat out due to a shoulder injury and LB Jorge Cordova missed the game after injuring his ankle on Wednesday. In other game news…
- One bit of good news during the game was the booming punt by Raiders punter Glenn Pakulak; standing near his own end zone, Pakulak unleashed a 71-yard punt that sent Titans wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins scrambling back to the Titans’ 17 yard line.
- There were a pair of last second field goals during the game – a 33-yard FG by Titans placekicker John Vaughn as time expired and a 56-yarder by the Raiders’ Aaron Elling as time expired in the first half.
- Injuries came into play as previously mentioned, including the aforementioned injury to Bulluck; also injured was Hawkins as he turned an ankle and didn’t return to the game. Other no-shows at Friday’s game were: WR Chris Davis (ribs), LB Kurt Campbell (ribs), defensive end Jacob Ford (leg), tight end Dwayne Blakley (groin) and WR Roydell Williams (ankle).
