The Titans are set to get a visit next week from former Falcons tight end Alge Crumpler. Sources say that the Titans feel that they are going to be able to get a deal done with the four-time Pro Bowler. Atlanta let Crumpler go last week as they start to try and turnover their roster and get back on track from an awful 2007. As far as the Titans go, they feel that the Falcons loss could be their gain. ”We met with him here a little bit [on Friday] and he’s probably going come to Nashville in the next week,” Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt said at the NFL Scouting Combine. ”I would think we would be competitive and I think he is looking more for the right fit at this point in time – the right city, the right team, a playoff potential team. That’s more what he’s looking for.”
Crumpler would be a solid fit for the Titans offense, as QB Vince Young likes to do a lot of check downs and throws to the tight ends. Last season tight ends on the Titans caught a total of 63 passes for 606 yards and one touchdown. Adding Crumpler would see those numbers go up in a hurry. Crumpler last season caught 42 passes for 444 yards and five TD’s on an awful Falcons team. It has been said that Crumpler will look to make about $4 mil per season with whatever team he ends up with.
