Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas (2) celebrates his game-winning 29-yard field goal with teammate Craig Hentrich, left, during the fourth quarter of an NFL football game against the Houston Texans Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 in Houston. Bironas set a new NFL record by kicking eight field goals in the Titans 38-36 win over the Texans.

Kicker Rob Bironas might have a tired leg tonight, but he and the rest of the Titans will take it.  Bironas kicked a league record eight field goals as the Titans survived a crazy 38-36 win over the Texans in Houston.  The Texans almost pulled off a miracle comeback, as led by backup QB Sage Rosenfels, they scored 29 points in the 4th quarter, including 14 in the last 1:37 to make it 36-35.  The Titans, led by backup QB Kerry Collins, marched down the field with a big pass play from Collins to Roydell Williams to set up the game-winning kick.

Bironas’ 29-yarder was true with no time remaining to push Tennessee to 4-2, dropping the heartbroken Texans to 3-4.  Houston lost starting QB Matt Schaub to an ankle and a hip injury, but Rosenfels came in and threw for 290 yards and four scores.  He did throw three picks.  Collins was 25-for-42 for 280 yards with no TD’s or picks.  LenDale White went over 100 yards with 104 yards on 27 carries for the Titans.

Chris Henry put the Titans up 32-7 with a four-yard score with 3:01 left in the third quarter.  From there, the Texans marched back with their 29 points, setting up the wild finish.  The Texans took the lead with 0:57 left when Rosenfels hit Andre Davis for a 53-yard score.  The Titans came back and on 3rd down from their own 37, Collins hit Williams for 46 yards, setting up Bironas for the game-winning kick.
