Former Titan Back Henry Borrowed Money from Team for Child Support
Posted by Matt Loede on August 27th, 2007 filed in OpinionsThe Titans are mum today about a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that is stating the team loaned former running back Travis Henry $9,800 for payments for child support. The story which was published on Sunday says that Henry had fallen behind with payments and when he was threatened with jail time, he went to the team for help.
Last season with the team he made the NFL vet minimum of $585,000. The season before that he earned $1.25 million. The story goes on to say that Henry has fathered 9 children by nine women in Florida, North Carolina and Georgia. He is paying child support for seven of them. Henry signed with the Broncos in the offseason for $25 million, yet his lawyer, Sheil Edlin, told The Tennessean: “He doesn’t have any money, the guy has significant financial issues.”
Maybe instead of running around knocking up women from state to state, it’s about time that someone earning a ridiculous amount of money should simply start to take responsibility and not have to borrow money from his employer just to pay child support.”I know these are a lot of kids, and there might be some questions about it,” Edlin said, “but he’s a really committed father.” That’s weird, you could have fooled me.
