Fisher Stands By a Poor Outing by QB Young
Posted by Matt Loede on August 19th, 2007 filed in NewsIt was not a good night on Friday for Titans franchise QB Vince Young, but on Saturday, head coach Jeff Fisher stood by his QB, who ended the night with a weak 52.1 QB rating. “I think it was a combination of things — the (wet) weather, the surface, people in his face,” Fisher said. “The approach that the Patriots took defensively was a unique approach. They brought people (in pass rush) almost every down from different places, dropped different people out in coverage. We went out in this game with a very basic game plan. We had not put ourselves in position to try to take advantage of those things.”
Young looked about as bad as at any point since joining the team, as he went 5-for-17 for 102 yards and was beat up for four sacks. He did make one very solid play, finding tight end Bo Scaife after avoiding pressure for a 44-yarder, which turned out to be the longest play of the game. The Titans failed to score on the drive, but it was the bright spot on the night for Young.
