After being released by the Buccaneers on Thursday, DE Simeon Rice is drawing interest from a few teams. Most notably the Jets, Giants and Titans. There are conflicting reports about Rice’s release. Tampa Bay said Rice failed a physical because of his shoulder injury but Rice said he was released after not taking a pay cut. Rice does admit there are issues with his shoulder and told reporters that he needs at least three more weeks of physical therapy to strengthen his shoulder.
The Titans are also interested in Rice. The Jackson Sun is reporting that the Titans hope to have Rice in for a physical soon. Titans DE Kyle Vanden Bosch recently spoke to reporters about Rice. He told them, “He’s (Rice) been a great pass rusher for a long time in this league and he knows how to get to the quarterback. That’s one of the tings we lacked last year….Going out and getting him would show that we are doing something to try to improve that.”
Rice is 33 and this year will be his 12th season in the NFL. He has recorded 121 career sacks. Last season with Tampa Bay, Rice was hampered by shoulder injury that forced him to miss 8 games but he still managed to record 2 sacks.
