Only two Titans remain from Super Bowl team

The Titans are a Young team, in more ways than one.  Quarterback Vince Young, entering his second season in the NFL, has clearly emerged as one of the team’s leaders.  Then there’s the youth factor.  Only four current Titans have played 10 or more years in the league.  Two of those, punter Craig Hentrich and offensive lineman Benji Olson, are the only remaining players from the Tennessee team that made it to the 2000 Super Bowl.

Hentrich and Olson have experienced a lot of things: the franchise’s move to Tennessee, Super Bowl XXXIV in Atlanta and the beginning of a certain young quarterback’s career.  Young is a vital key to the future of the Titans; Hentrich and Olson embody the past.  Together, all three are part of a team presently hoping to get back to the Super Bowl.  The Titans haven’t played in the postseason since the 2003 season, barely missing the playoffs a year ago while going 8-8.

“Benji and I joke around a lot about how we’re the only two left (from the 2000 Super Bowl team). I tell him that we just have to stick together,” Hentrich said.  “They set the example for everybody around them. They come in every day ready to work,” Coach Jeff Fisher said.
